St. Jeanne d'Arc
The
St. Jeanne d'Arc
square connects the Cathedral to the Place General de Gaulle. In this
area are some of the most "chic" boutiques in Orleans and
the best patisseries.

Hotel Groslot
One of Orleans's main landmarks: the former Hotel Groslot
now the Hotel de Ville (City Hall). Known for
Renaissance decoration
& furniture of its rooms.
In front, a Joan of Arc statue.

Sainte Croix Cathedral
The
Sainte Croix Cathedral one of the biggest and most beautiful in
France. The Cathedral in Orleans
was constructed in the 16th century by Henri IV.

Sainte Croix Cathedral
When I first visited the Cathedral, I notice
holes all over the walls. I was told General Patton fought
through here chasing the Germans. |

Rue de Bourgogne
Orleans
is a quiet city. Its inhabitants live a
relaxed life. There is little activity in the streets of Orleans during the week
but Orleans comes alive on the weekend.
Rue de Bourgogne is where most restaurants in
Orleans are located.

Les
Musardises
This
is
where I was introduced to French Vanilla ice cream. I worked just a few blocks away in the U.S. Army Headquarters at the Caserne and
I had an apartment a few blocks away. |
